Adobe Flash upgrade creating problems
Just to let you know that we have had sooo many problems with BTN this term with the Adobe Flash. What happened is that when the ABC upgraded to Adobe Flash 11.2 Holmesglen didn't have this on our system. So, no picture, no class, until the Adobe Flash 11.2 upgrade was individually installed.

They’re on the way however, I wouldn’t expect them this term. We have the Teacher page to do yet and a few other things. We’re also aiming to make the quizzes even better but more on that once these extra features have been confirmed.

They’re coming! To get the new site live on time we had to stage the development of other areas of the old site. The Quiz section will come back but there are other sections taking priority at the moment. In the meantime, the old quizzes are available here: http://www.abc.net.au/btn/v5/quiz/index.html?file=js/intro.js
Expected completion of the new version of the Quiz page is third term. -
Video quality online
Tried posting this with the contact part of the website, but it would not let me.
Love the show and use it weekly in class with my students, but with the new format and not being able to watch it in Media player, it was slow, jumpy and barely watchable. Is there anything that can be done to improve the viewing quality?4 votes -

Hello, This feature has been requested by us for a long time now as well. The Video player we use isn’t built by Behind the News so we have to wait till it becomes available too: http://www.abc.net.au/res/libraries/cinerama2/#roadmap

Introduce 'This is your school' segment
It would be great to introduce a school every now and then from around Australia

It’s actually a project that we have planned to do for a number of years now. The issue is the resources needed to do it! Over the past two years there have been some other priorities but hopefully we will be able to do something like this in 2012 in collaboration with ABC Open!
Thanks for your suggestion, fingers crossed! :) -
Put host info on the site
Have interviews and fun facts about all the BTN hosts. Have a part where you can write to them as well.

We’d love to make BtN go for longer but we are restricted to our TV broadcast time slot. We are considering adding extra “online only” content though…

This idea is pretty much the same as the “Put more things on BtN” idea. We are hoping to extend the online version of BtN with more footage or extra shorter stories. We’re not sure yet how it will look/work but it’s definitely in our considerations for 2012.

We are considering how we can add more sport to the web version of the show. We can’t add more to the TV broadcast because our time slot is fixed.

accessing closed captions
I work at a school which watches taped versions of btn and was wondering is there any way to access the captions from the taped DVD or is it necessary to record the show with the captions showing.

Unfortunately the closed captions feature is part of the ABC’s video player looked after by another department. As soon as it’s available we will be adding it to the site… we’re waiting too :)

As part of our plan to increase the online version of the video we are considering the addition of a short review of the lastest new tech. It will be similar to ABC3 News’ techbites segment.
